Morella...A Wonder To Behold

Morella is a walled city only 50 Kms or 50 minutes drive from Marstrat Park. Possibly the very best town to visit in the whole area. It’s known for the iconic Castle de Morella that towers above the city atop a massive rock. The castle houses a former prison, the governor's palace and a parade ground. Gothic architecture and medieval city walls are other highlights of both the castle and town. The Temps de História museum traces the city’s history, including its role in the 19th-century Carlist Civil Wars.  It is very easy to spend all day on your visit. The road to Morella is undergoing massive improvements. If you look carefully,  you can see parts of two previous roads that were cut through the mountains, by hand !!
